From the Beatles through to Liverpool and Everton Football Clubs, the city of Liverpool has never been short of attractions that both entertain and amuse visitors to the area. There are around 500,000 people living within the city’s boundaries and the fact that Aintree Racecourse is nearby is proof positive that the locals enjoy a flutter. Little wonder, then, that there are three decent size casinos within walking distance of the famed Liver Building, plus a further two across the water in the Wirral.

The Grosvenor Casino is located on the banks of the Mersey River and offers an excellent view over to the Wirral Peninsula, so there’s an argument that it’s the one to go to if you enjoy gambling in spectacular surroundings. It certainly helps that it offers pretty much everything you could hope for in a casino, including roulette tables, Blackjack, three-card poker tables and more. The slots offer a £10,000 jackpot and there are also high-roller tables. There’s a room dedicated to poker for both cash games and the occasional tournament, too.

The other two casinos in the city are both members of the Genting chain. Given that Liverpool is home to the country’s oldest Chinese community, it’s no major surprise that the one on Renshaw Street caters to that crowd with a Mah Jong room. The other casino is at Queen Square and has a poker room with No Limit Texas Hold’em cash games and tournaments taking place throughout the week. They both have all of the usual casino games, including baccarat, roulette and Blackjack. If you’re a poker amateur, then head to the Queen Square venue and get some free lessons.

The city is a little bit like a miniature New York, in so much as it’s based around the River and is relatively easy to walk around. The Grosvenor is the furthest from the city centre, but even that is only a 15-minute or so walk away. The Queen Square venue is the most central, but there’s also a Genting Casino over the water in Birkenhead on the Wirral, should none of these options impress you.

If you don’t know much about the game then you can always go to one of the Learn to Play sessions that are hosted at the venue on a regular basis.
